Advent III

Adult Forum: Constantine and the Established Church ~ We have seen how the Roman Empire turned from a persecutor of the Christian religion to its protector and patron. The personal convictions of Constantine were never entirely clear, yet he seemed genuinely devoted to the cause of Christianity. Constantine referred to himself as the “servant of God” but he never exercised the same direct control of Christianity that the Roman emperors has over worship in the empire. Join us in Saint Mary’s Chapel following the 8:00 a.m. service as we follow the story beyond the Sunday school teachings of your childhood.

Community Christmas Concert: The local Cumberland Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) will sponsor a Christmas concert today, December 15 at 4:00 p.m. Area musicians, including Mark King will participate. The event will take place at Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

Saint John’s Shelter: Thank you to those who have already made a generous donation to the Shelter's Christmas fund.  Included in today's bulletin is an envelope for your year end support for our Family Shelter.  Thank you, Saint John's Family Shelter Board.

Counter Needed: This is an important ministry that happens behind the scenes. Beginning January 2020, one counter is needed for the 2nd Sunday of each month plus one additional week each year. Counting is typically done on Sunday following the 10:15 a.m. service (other arrangements can be made if necessary). Confidentiality is of utmost importance as well as accuracy. Training and detailed instructions will be provided. If you are interested in this ministry or have questions, please contact the Church office or the treasurer.

Ushers: Two ushers are needed on team #7 at the 10:15 a.m. service. If you are interested, please contact Mike Mummert or the Church office.
