Children & Youth

Welcome to St. John's Children's Ministry

St. John's joyfully welcomes children in all aspects of our community life. You will find children present in daily activities, Sunday morning worship, and special events. All activities follow the Episcopal Church's SafeChurch practices.

Our Commitment

  • Nurturing young people in the Christian way and life, through learning and fellowship in a loving environment.
  • Preparing children and youth as they grow toward making a mature profession of faith in Confirmation, taking on the Baptismal Covenant for themselves.

Please contact the Rector if you would like to learn more about baptism or confirmation.

Children's Chapel

Children's Chapel

Offered during the 10:15 Sunday service, children gather in St. Mary’s Chapel to learn about the Gospel lesson for the day through prayer, discussion, and activities. They begin with their families in the Nave and return for the Eucharistic Prayer and communion.

Youth Group

Youth Group

For middle and high school students, the Youth Group meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month after the 10:15 service for fellowship, service projects, and fun.

Nursery

Nursery

The nursery, staffed by adult and teen parishioners, is available during the 10:15 service for our youngest members. Children return to the Nave at the Peace to join their families for the Eucharistic Prayer and communion.

Get Involved

St. John’s offers many opportunities for children and youth to actively participate in worship and community life. Whether it’s through music, serving as acolytes, lectors, or ushers, every child can find their place to grow in faith and serve joyfully.

Serving as Acolytes: Acolytes play a meaningful role in our worship services, assisting clergy during the liturgy. It’s a wonderful way for young people to contribute and grow in their faith.

Music Ministry: Children and youth can join our choir or music ensembles, enriching worship with their voices and instruments.

Leadership Opportunities: From reading lessons as lectors to welcoming parishioners as ushers, there are many ways to be involved in our church community.
