The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland

St. John’s enjoys a positive and supportive relationship with the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. Our parish is actively involved in diocesan initiatives and contributes to annual ministry allocations. St. John’s has a strong history of encouraging and supporting members discerning a call to ordained ministry, and we are actively engaged in diocesan efforts related to social justice, including Reparations and inclusivity.

The Diocese recently consecrated The Right Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent as Bishop Coadjutor. She will succeed The Right Rev. Eugene Taylor Sutton as the 15th Bishop of the Diocese upon his retirement in April 2024. Bishop Sutton was the first African American to hold this position, and Bishop Schofield-Broadbent is the first woman to serve in this role, marking important milestones for our diocese.
