The Third Sunday in Lent

Weekday Liturgies The congregation is invited to attend Evening Prayer on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Church; the midweek Eucharist held on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. in Saint Mary’s Chapel.

The Adult Forum: Exodus 1-15, Moses and Exodus. What do you mean that there is nothing in Egyptian records, or any other records, regarding the Exodus? All that stuff about Moses leading this great band of people out of Egypt isn’t in any records? All those plagues? What was that about?  This is your chance to find out!  Don’t let facts get in the way of a good story! What is the “story behind the story”/ You don’t want to miss this defining story of the Jewish people.  Next week, “The God of Israel!”  Be there. 9:00 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Chapel.

Make Choral Evensong part of your Lenten Journey, next Sunday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m. Father Todd will be the officiant. In addition to congregational hymns, the Parish Choir, Julie Belle Huff (flute) and Mark King will provide music. A reception coordinated by Bruce Massey and Jerry Bock will follow the service.

J2A Painting Fundraiser: Sunday, March 11 at 1:45 PM in Trimble Hall.  Come and help the J2A class raise funds for their Urban Excursion to New York City in June. The cost is $40.00 per person. Join in this fun activity and bring home a painting!  No experience needed.

Mayfest Meeting:There will be a general planning meeting Monday, March 19, at 8:30 am in Saint Mary's Chapel. You are welcome to attend and share your ideas. If you have questions or suggestions and are unable to attend, contact Bruce Massey or Deanna Soulis.

Soup and Sandwich lunch: Palm Sunday, March 25 in Trimble Hall. The J2A class will be preparing soup and sandwiches to help raise funds for their upcoming Urban Excursion. There will be a sign up sheet available but this is not required.  Cost is $5/person or $15/family. Plan to stay for food and fellowship.


SAY CHEESE!  Save the date & set your appointment: April 3, 4, 5, & 6 from 2pm to 8:30pm and Saturday April 7th from 9am to 3pm representatives From Life Touch will be in Trimble Hall to take your family portraits. We'll use the shot of your choice in our Parish Pictorial Directory and you'll get a free 8x10 and a free directory just for participating. You may bring props if you wish and you'll have the opportunity to purchase additional prints, too. Sue Sowers & Cathy Bushey will be in the Antietam Street entrance in between services and following the 10:15 service for the next few weeks taking sign can sign up online by using this link:

PLEASE NOTE: online sign-ups will be disabled every Sunday so there's no chance of double booking! Online signup will be available early Monday morning through late Saturday night. AND we're in need of "activity" shots! They can be posed or candid, groups, or individuals - pictures of folks doing what we do best here at St. John's. Eagle Scout Project Donations: Matthew Mummert is currently working on his Eagle Scout rank and his project is making five cement benches for Saint John’s. Donations are requested to pay for supplies. A donation jar will be located in Trimble Hall.  Thank you for supporting this project.

Miscellaneous plated silverware pieces for sale - Check out the plastic box at the Antietam Street entrance if you are interested in purchasing odds and ends silverware for $1.00 each. These are pieces from our kitchen we will no longer be using, and are looking for new homes for them. Proceeds will go to Parish Life. Pick out what you want, and give the money to Dusty Graham. We are on the honor system!

Saint John’s Silver Plated Place Settings: A signup sheet is at the Antietam Street entrance. Orders are being taken until March 15. Knife, fork, and spoon sets are $10.00 each. Serving spoons are $5.00. After that date the sets will be distributed, with everyone receiving at least one set, and hopefully all each person requested.

Saint John’s Owned Cemetery Plots at Rest Haven: Fliers are on the table at the Antietam Street entrance. If you are interested, please call Dusty Graham.

It’s that time of year again! We are asking you to bring in Easter egg stuffers for the children’s Easter Egg hunt.  We are also gathering items for Easter Baskets for the children who find the Gold and Silver eggs. Collections for these Eggs can be left in the baskets under the TV projector screen.
