Seventh Sunday of Easter

Weekday Liturgies The congregation is invited to attend Evening Prayer on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Church; and the midweek Eucharist held on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. in Saint Mary’s Chapel.

Memorial Donation: Saint John’s will be collecting memorial donations in memory of William Howard Dunkin, son of Sandy Dunkin our long time sexton. Donations will be received through May and used to assist with funeral expenses.  If you would like to make a donation please note “Dunkin Memorial” on your check.

Parish Picnic – Please sign up for our Parish Picnic on June 4th!  Fried chicken and drinks will be provided by Parish Life.  A signup sheet is available on the podium in Trimble Hall. 

Organ Recital by Mark King, on Friday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Music at Saint John’s Series. Program will include repertoire by American contemporary composer. Craig Phillips; German Baroque composers Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach; English/American jazz composer, George Shearing; American ragtime composer, Scott Joplin; French Romantic composer, Alexandre Guilmant. In commemoration of the 500th year anniversary of the Reformation, hymn texts and tunes of Martin Luther will be featured, including settings by German Renaissance composer, Michael Praetorius; German Baroque composer, Dietrich Buxtehude; German Romantic composer, Max Reger; and German Contemporary composer, Ernest Pepping. A reception will follow the program. Be sure to invite family, friends and neighbors to attend with you.

Vacation Bible School:  Volunteers wanted! St. John's Parish will offer Vacation Bible School this summer from Sunday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 19.  Our theme for 2017 is Year 2 of Abundance Orchard, with stories from the Gospels.  We are looking for adult and teen helpers for a variety of roles.  If you would like to help please contact Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministries Margaret Clinch at 301-733-2560 or youthmin.stjohns@myactv.net.

Calling All Graduates: We at Saint John’s would like to recognize all of our parishioners graduating from high school or college as well as those who will be graduating from elementary or middle school.  We would like to have you send us a picture to place on the Antietam Street bulletin board along with a paragraph of your future plans, awards you have received, or goals you have set for the coming years.  We would like to recognize you in the July issue of   Soundings.  You may send it to the church office or you may e-mail to maletzkyd@gmail.com.  We will need it by June 10th in order to meet the July Soundings deadline. Pictures will be returned.

Anyone interested in Dinner for Eight? If you are interested in joining this dinner club, please contact the office.  If there is enough interest, we will start in September! 

Nursery Volunteers Needed! – We are seeking adults and teens to help in the nursery with infants through 4 year-olds.  If you are willing to help with this ministry once a month, please contact Margaret Clinch at youthmin.stjohns@myactv.net or 301-733-2560.

Stewardship: Christian stewardship at Saint Johns is a way of life.  The cards in the pews and throughout the church encompass more than money. Please use one to indicate where you are willing to offer your talents and time in gratitude of God's love.
