Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Vacation Bible School:  Volunteers wanted! Saint John's Parish will offer Vacation Bible School this summer from Sunday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 19.  Our theme for 2017 is Year 2 of Abundance Orchard, with stories from the Gospels.  If you would like to help please contact Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministries Margaret Clinch at 301-733-2560 or youthmin.stjohns@myactv.net.

Leitersburg 38th Annual Peach Festival: The Leitersburg Ruritan will be sponsoring this festival  held on Aug 12th and 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ruritan Community Park.  Come  and joy great food, fresh peaches, pony rides, live music, art and crafts and more.  Admission and parking are free. 

Anyone interested in Dinner for Eight? If you are interested in joining this dinner club, please contact the office.  If there is enough interest, we will start in September! 

Nursery Volunteers Needed! – We are seeking adults and teens to help in the nursery with infants through 4 year-olds.  If you are willing to help with this ministry once a month, please contact Margaret Clinch at youthmin.stjohns@myactv.net or 301-733-2560.

The Service and Outreach Commission would like to sincerely "THANK YOU" for your contributions to the Bountiful Blessings Box in Trimble Hall.   Additional donations are needed.  Please contribute to our supply of toiletries, soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products and toilet paper.   These items are made available to consumers at the monthly Community Cafe.   Thank you for your continued support of this outreach endeavor!

Stewardship: Christian stewardship at Saint Johns is a way of life.  The cards in the pews and throughout the church encompass more than money. Please use one to indicate where you are willing to offer your talents and time in gratitude of God's love.

Independence Day Carillon Recital: Jim Brinson will present a recital on Tuesday, July 4 at 3:00 p.m., playing the 50 bell carillon at Mercersburg Academy Chapel, featuring American and Patriotic music.  Program is free and the public is invited to attend.

Micah’s Backpack Shopping List

Each “backpack” receives the following:

2- Cans of Vegetables – Corn/Green beans

2- Cans of Soup – Tomato/Chicken Noodle

      *Other types of Soups are okay

2 - Boxes of Juice – Must be 100% Juice

1 - Can of Tuna

1 - Can of Chef Boyardee

       *Spaghetti and Meatballs or Ravioli

1 - 24 oz. Can of Apple Sauce

1 - Packet of Instant Oatmeal

2 - Types of Cracker Packets

       *Peanut Butter and Crackers work well

1 - Individually Wrapped PopTart

      *Make sure a box of PopTarts is individually wrapped

 

Shelter Needs:  Saint John’s Shelter is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Caretaker/Case Manager, Abbey Asiama.  This is a live-in position and Abbey is in need of furniture in order to complete her move into her one bedroom apartment at the Shelter.  We are seeking donations of a queen-sized bed frame, couch/futon, chair, small dining table and chairs, additional items such as a bedside table, lamps, desk, etc.  Any household items will also be welcomed.  We ask you to please keep Abbey and the Shelter in your prayers as we move forward on this journey.  If you can help out please contact Joyce Chabot 301-791-1388 or jchabot1@verizon.net or Becca Burford 301-471-1947 or rlburford@myactv.net.
